Hi,

on this page, I’m going to put links to various things related to Electric Car Conversions, like suppliers of Electric Motors, Controllers, Batteries, Go Karts, Car parts etc . As I have not used most of these suppliers, I can’t comment on the quality or reliability of most of these suppliers. I will also have links to electric car, electric go kart and electric vehicle forums, other electric car, electric go kart and electric vehicle blogs as well as other sites which could be of interest to people interested in doing Electric Car conversion. Canberra EV – Electric Vehicle Club for people located around Canberra area. Club members have got involved in Electric Car Conversions, organizing exhibitions and are involved in promoting Electric Vehicles. I’ve made a lot of great contacts in the Electric Vehicle industry because of this club.
Gateway Electric Vehicle Club - Electric Car Club for people located around Saint Louis which is a registered chapter of the Electric Auto Association (EAA).

Batteries

Battery University(TM) – Great information about all sorts of batteries. This site is sponsored by Cadex who are famous for making Battery Testing, Charging, Diagnostics and Maintenance equipment.
Interstate Batteries – High performance battery manufacturer and supplier based in Texas. I use one of their batteries in my Electric Go Kart and it has a lot of power. I’m very impressed with their product.
Lithium Batteries Australia – Supplier of Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries. They are also able to make customized battery solutions for your Electric Car Conversion.
Optima Batteries – High performance battery manufacturer using spiral cell technology. I have used them in my Electric Go Kart and it delivered impressive results.
Shorai – Makers of Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries. I don’t know much about them, but I came across them on a motorcycle forum.

ECO Boats – supplier and solutions provider of electric motors for boats. This includes outboard motors, inboard motors and yes diesel-electric hybrids. They are suppliers of the German made Torqueedo outboard motor. These outboard motors are more reliable and require less maintenance than conventional gasoline outboard motors. For inboard, pod and sail drive motors, they have they supply the Dutch made Mastervolt-Bellmann range which are very reliable and require little maintenance. Complete electric boats are also offered by ECO Boats.

EV Convert - a blog that is “Helping people get rid of Gas since 1995″.
EV Photo Album – an album of electric vehicle conversions. This site is a very comprehensive album of vehicles converted to electric. Each entry usually has photo(s) and information such as the vehicle, electric motor used, controller, batteries and so on. It is great for people wanting to do an Electric Car Conversion as they can copy someone who has done it already and possibly contact the owner of a particular Electric Vehicle. Most high profile Electric Car conversions are listed on this site.
EVTuners – Online Magazine dedicated to high performance Electric Cars.
Gavin Shoebridge – famous for converting a Mitsubishi Tredia to Electric and documented this Electric Car Conversion. He has even written a book Electric Conversion Made Easy which I will do a review about it in the future. In fact this book helped clarify a number of concepts for me which eventually helped me overcome the small hurdles I had in doing my Electric Go Kart Conversion.

RG250 Electric Conversion - Electric conversion of a motorbike in Canberra, Australia.
Tesla Motors – The technology company that sets the bench mark for modern Electric Cars. Their first car was a Roadster, based on a Lotus where an Electric Car Conversion was done to it with many innovations made to the car that it set benchmarks in automotive technology and put many established car makers to shame. The Roadster redefined the sports car with performance that rivals Porsche, Ferrari and Lamborghini. Their upcoming model, the Model S is set to put even more established car makers to shame and will redefine luxury saloon cars. BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Lexus, Infiniti – watch out.
theatlasdistrict.net – This is a car related blog, not specific to electric cars, but it does have some electric car related articles in it. They have a lot of nice pictures of cars and many of those cars would make nice donor cars for Electric Car Conversions.

Catavolt – Australian Electric Bike Conversion business. This company created the Catavolt bike that has smashed several records including Electric Land Speed records and taken out track records at various racing tracks. They built the bike that won the 2011 Australian eFXC / TTXGP championship!
Cameron Motorworks – This Canadian based company did a conversion on a new Volkswagen Beetle. Looks great.
Civic Electric Car Conversion – “Conversion blog on a 1996 Honda Civic gas vehicle to a completely electric vehicle!”

Plasma Boy EV Racing - John Wayland, the famous creator of the White Zombie which is a humble Datsun converted to Electric. This car is famous for winning drag races against super cars. Porsche 914 Electric Conversion - nice blog about a Porsche 914 Electric Car Conversion. It has lots of nice clear photos and the information is nicely presented.

Racing Green Endurance – a website entailing how students from the Imperial College London did an Electric Car Conversion on a Radical 8 Super Car. The car was then driven along the Pan-American highway from Fairbanks (Alaska), Canada, United States, through Central America and then into South America with the destination being in Ushuaia (Argentina).
Rimac-automobili - formally known as VST-cars and VST-Conversions- high performance Electric Car Conversion, the brain child of CroDriver (Mate Rimac). Famous for converting a BMW E30 which consistently wins drag races against Porsches, BMWs M cars and is also faster than a Tesla Roadster, Rimac Automobili has gone on to make a super Electric Car which competes against the Bugatti Veyron.

Go Karts and Off Road Carts

Kart One – place which sells racing go karts, parts, accessories and provide go karting services. I found this shop very helpful when I told them I was building an Electric Go Kart. They were very enthusiastic about my project. They are located at Eastern Creek Raceway in Western Sydney, Australia. I like this shop.
Spider Carts – wealth of information on go karts, especially off road carts. They appear to have plans, parts, kits and a forum. In my opinion, they appear to have a lot of fun stuff.
Stable Karting - place which sells racing go karts, parts, accessories and provide go karting services. I believe they can do engineering work and modifications as I saw them doing some fabrication when I visited their workshop. This shop took a keen interest when I was looking to upgrade my electric go kart to have a more powerful electric motor. They are also keen on historic go karts. They are located in Canberra, Australia. I like this shop.
